May is here. And as yet another crop of creatives graduate from college and high school, they each must weigh stability of signing up with a major film studio or recording company against the freedom of "going indie" and starting their own business. This year, however, there is a new wrinkle. The majors are not hiring as much as in years past. According to Bloomberg, Disney and many other international entertainment corporations are planning layoffs for
budgetary reasons. While streaming and online platforms have been a very good thing for indies, as it drastically ramped up their potential for exposure without having to ever leave their home office, it has been a net loss for the majors.
So as you plot out how to share your gift with the world, indie may be your best option. We at Hannibal Legal can help you get started. Feel free to contact us.
